Yup, lot’s more work in the USA. Yup, lot’s more actors in USA. Yup, lots more

Australian Actors going to USA to “follow the dream”. Hmmmm – what’s wrong

with this picture?

There are people (all kinds of people “in the biz”) who would like to offer you an

Opportunity to get discovered (Yikes, let me at it!) Whoa, how much? Gotta get the money, gotta get the money, gotta get the money. STOP in the name of whoever you

Hold holy!!

Yes, Americans like Australians. Australians who are READY to WORK and WORK HARD.

Humble advice from me – Hell not so humble – I know the drill LOUD & CLEAR!

I just returned from yet another trip to Los Angeles. Hollywood Immersive set up by Lilly Dawson and Margie Haber. Yes! You actually get to study with someone who

is GOOD, BRILLIANT and (tish tish) CARES!

Yeah, the teens paid some money, ya gotta get there, stay there and eat. But no one made

promises of stardom, agents, ‘pack your bags’……etc. Everyone went over to STUDY

and get information on what it’s like to BE THERE. All these people came back with

MORE knowledge on how to MAKE IT in (ha, guess where??) AUSTRALIA…Perhaps with a view to return to the USA when they are READY with American Accents and legal documents to work!

So there. The weather was great, the food was great, I love teenagers and no false promises were made and everyone was totally happy, psyched and pumped.

Home for the Holidays

Sydney – Metropolitan City, New York – Metropolitan City, Chicago – Windy City, Washington, D.C. – International City, Los Angeles – whatever you want, San Sebastian, Spain – wonderful, Philadelphia – old money, Florida – a slow motion movie. I’ve lived and worked in all.

Peoria – ? I grew up there. Going home for the holidays to feel like a kid again and was not disappointed. Snow at Christmas (a blizzard!!) Corn fields I used to run in…

Stuck in the mud! Was I back in High School?

My dad, still tall and handsome at 86, an ex-Marine Sergeant – called (what else) Sarge. Didn’t want to call him when I got stuck in the mud, nor did I when I was in High School stuck in the mud!

Now for a few anecdotes:

1. Dad: a bit forgetful – always asks ‘where are you’ and with me that’s okay because I go everywhere. I was staying half an hour away at a friend’s while home for the holidays.

Phone: Only reception I could get was either outside in the freezing rain or snow (did I mention I traveled from Sydney where it’s summer)? So I decided to try the garage and it worked and wasn’t as cold and wet! So I called my dad to tell him I had gotten home to my friend’s okay. He said “where are you” – I said, “in the garage”. – he said, “my garage?” at which point I was on the floor of the cement garage in hysterical laughter. I said, “no Anne’s garage” – he said, oh good I wouldn’t have wanted to lock you in my garage, it’s cold”.

2. I was going to cook dinner at Dad’s. He & his wife’s idea of a gourmet meal is choosing which TV dinner.
I insisted on marinating the chicken overnight. I found an interesting array of spices and went about spicing up their lives. I then went back to my friend’s to eat and sleep. I went back the next day to cook a spicy, awesome dinner and went looking for my marinated chicken.

I will be going to the USA December/January. It’s Pilot Season in Los Angeles and will meet up with my contacts over there to introduce some of my actors. More info for the USA – Nominations for Golden Globe Awards.

It is always said that the Golden Globes are a good indication of who will be nominated for an Oscar.

Sometimes it’s true. Sometimes the Golden Globes are a bit of a popularity contest.

Anyway, in my opinion to be nominated or to win is wonderful either way.

I think some of these categories all the actors and actresses should ‘win’. I haven’t seen all these films or shows — but Clint Eastwood can do no wrong by me and is an amazing human being! Go Clint!
House is a favorite and Hugh Laurie says the single hardest thing he has to do every day is to use his American accent!
