‘Tomorrow When the War Began’

…glad it’s tomorrow and not today…..As an AFI Professional member, I get to see all the latest Aussie films for free.  Well, this one I went into with a headache and came out with a bigger one.  HOWEVER, for an Aussie film, it was a pretty wild ride.  Stuart Beattie (American) wrote and directed the screenplay from John Marsden book.  I should have known it was for tweens and teens.  Lots of action and some pretty faces.  Caitlin Stasey (the lead) is a real hottie and I liked her in this film.    It had an interesting ending for this American (me).  Us Americans tend to like to have REAL endings, not like the European films or even Australian ones.  We need our ending!!!!  Heaven forbid, we should have to make it up ourselves, Shock, horror — WE COULD BE WRONG!!!  Anyway, I think after all the “thank yous” you endure at the start of the AFI Awards, and THEN the film, I was kinda glad the ending left me hanging.  I figured it’d take at least another hour to figure out how these kids were going to save the world — and as I said, I had a headache and everything had already been blown up anyway!

Have fun if your see it and you are under 20 years old — or just like bombs bursting in air…….

Personally, I think ‘Mao’s Last Dancer’ was the best AFI has ever had to offer (heh, I was in it of course) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0824800/

  1. Whoa Cozza – how narrow minded to call people names (I don’t need pity, you do). Too bad an American in Australia
doesn’t have the right, in your opinion, to voice their own personal opinion. Good luck in life. You will need it.
